The Linear B word ku-mi-no
Word ku-mi-no
ku mi no
Transliteration kumino
Meaning cumin

Comments

Usually quoted as a Semitic loanword, however it is unlikely that this word is native to Semitic. This word is widely attested outside the Semitic languages, namely, in Sumerian (gamun), Hittite (kappani?), Linear A (ku-mi-na), Greek, and Latin (cuminum) as is characteristic of ancient culture words. Furthermore, cumin is native to the mediterranean, so the word must have originated there.
