Ing was one of the three sons of Mannus and ancestor of the Ingaevones. In the story of  Mannus (recorded by Tacitus), the ancestor of the Germans was Tuisto 'Twin', who had a son Mannus 'Man', who then begot the three primary Germanic tribes, the Ingvaeones, the Herminones and lstaevones.
