| The κρηπίς is one of the typical characteristics of Macedonian dress. Although it is attested all over Greece, it is doubtfull it would be a loan into Macedonian (see Filos, 2015). An Indo-European origin has been suggested based on Lith. kùrpė, but this was rejected by Fraenkel (Litauisches etymologisches Wörterbuch. Heidelberg 1955). Both Beekes (2014) and Filos (2015) consider it Pre-Greek. | |
