Comments
The term is obviously common with the rest of Greece, however it is never attested with the suffix -ισσα outside Macedonia. Kalleris (1954) and Beekes (2010) argue that the suffix is found outside Macedonia e.g. Φοίνισσα, μέλισσα, Κίλισσα etc, but Filos (2015) is not convinced that the Macedonia -(ί)σ(σ)α is the same.
