The Puruliya Festival is a Hattian celebration in spring. It celebrated the regeneration of life at the beginning of the agricultural year. The festival schedule included a recitation of the myth about the Stormgod’s victory over the serpent, which he achieved with the aid of humans.

Haas stated that the name puruli(ya) is derived from the Hattian noun "earth".
